Way too many errors and plot holes. To me everything about Casino Royale was perfect to me. The action, romance, story, torture scene, music.

What an awesome freaking movie. Call me a sucker for action, but I really think Silva is one of the best villians the Bond movies have had in a while.

At least since Trevelyan. Skyfall was a great Bond movie, it had its moments making it worth rewatching, but Casino is on a whole other level.

Skyfall had one of the best intros in a movie, but the story got a little cliche and I was not a fan of the Home Alone sequence close to the end.

CR great movie all the way to the end. Please Log In to post. This topic is locked from further discussion. Which one do you prefer?

Skyfall was great until the last 3rd, where it turned into a stock action film. I've only seen each film once.

Based on both of those viewings, I was more impressed with Skyfall. Riverwolf Follow Forum Posts: SaintLeonidas Follow Forum Posts: Both are good in their own ways.

Casino Royale edges it out Bikouchu35 Follow Forum Posts: I just didn't think it was all that mind blowing or unique. This wasn't just a old timey Bond story with exotic locations and beautiful women.

It put the aging character of Bond in the modern world, one where he was obsolete, and to me, it felt more grounded and dramatic. In a world where a computer can destroy an economy just as easily as a bomb, is there really a need for a man with a gun?

This is a question Skyfall asked, and more importantly, answered. Furthermore, Skyfall to me felt like an ending, a grand conclusion to an era of greatness, a respectful salute to the older movies.

I'm sorry, but I thought Skyfall's story was slightly more relevant and emotionally impactful than Casino Royale.

He is both ruthless and swab, playing to the character's charisma without sacrificing his lethality. In Casino Royale, we saw his beginning, his arrogance and hardcore emotional lessons that he had to learn, and that was very fun to watch.

But In Skyfall, again, he offers more drama and emotion, simply because he is past his best. He's more vulnerable, more desperate and more sympathetic in Skyfall than ever before.

And plus, we for the first time dived into his personal origins, and the fact the movie ended and his mission failed in the very place where his journey began was heart wrenching.

Honestly, Eve Moneypenny and Severine were serviceable, but far from the most memorable or profound female characters in the franchise.

Vesper Lynd, on the other hand, was on a whole other level. Her character had depth and dimension; she was intelligent, sassy, sexy and one of the best parts of Casino Royale.

Casino Royale wins this by a longshot. But my problem with him is that he felt standard, a pawn in a grander game that was explained in the third act.

He doesn't hold a candle to Silva, who steals nearly every scene he's in. He may be completely insane, but to some extent, his plan is sympathetic, and the best villains are the one's you can understand.

Le Chiffre is also understandable, but in terms of style, menace and uniqueness, Javier Bardem's Raoul Silva outshines him.

While it has great cinematography and the final act is riveting, the action in Skyfall is slightly disappointing, a little too artsy and scarce for my taste.

In contrast, Casino Royale hits fast and hard. Between the 8 minute construction site sequence, the airport heist, and the final fight in Venice, Casino Royale offers smart and exciting stunts throughout its run time.

Shot entirely in black and white, it introduced Craig's Bond as a ruthless killer, a young ish hitman now free to cause mayhem.

In comparison, the Skyfall intro sequence is over three times as long, featuring an exciting chase through the streets of Turkey and on the top of a train before seeing Bond plunge to his supposed death.

Unfortunately, it loses its excitement really fast on the second viewing, whereas the Casino Royale intro, simply on how quick and effortless it is, will always be superior.

The joyous, fast paced Chris Cornell track "You Know My Name" set against an animated poker montage is fun and exciting. But Adele's "Skyfall", with its superior lyrics, wonderful imagery and beautifully haunting singing voice has the greater impact.

Large chunks of "Quantum of Solace" were cobbled together apparently without the help of the writers and it still holds up better to repeated viewings than "Skyfall".

I liked "Skyfall" but didn't think it was great. Bardem is the best Bond villain ever? Oatsdad , Aug 8, Overall, I expect better movies for the Bond franchise with Daniel Craig.

Skyfall 's goosebump inducing theme song is the best since maybe Goldfinger. John S , Aug 8, Solaris and Standoffish like this.

CR and SF are, despite the ridiculousness of it all - implausibility being a staple in Bond movies. SF has some interesting themes and symbolism that keep me interested.

Bobby Boogaloo , Aug 8, I enjoyed the center of Casino Royale greatly. The opening started well with some thrilling high-altitude parkour but ended in yet another, "Hey, I'll just shoot an explosive prop and that'll fix everything!

The ending was a horrible mess; it couldn't quite erase the good will the preceding built, but it does hold the film down several slots in my rankings.

I completely agree with BayouTiger. Replacing baccarat with Texas Hold'em was the most glaring false note in updating the material to our times.

No, no, no, no, no It made Bond drinking a Heineken seem like a minor infraction by comparison. Skyfall improves for me with each viewing.

There are problems, but the bold reboot after we thought they were finished rebooting was excellent, and the film certainly looks better than any other in the series.

I just can't hate Quantum of Solace.

That felt more traditional Bond whereas Skyfall tonally went in a very dark direction. Nov 28, 2. FWDictatorMar 10, I just Beste Spielothek in Beerendorf finden hate Quantum of Solace. In most ways it doesn't even qualify as a Bond movie as opposed to a generic spy action movie. I don't even want to see it again. FWDictator , Mar 10, Some people will share it, others will not.

But I'll try my best to be thorough and logical. But it was also a more textbook Bond story arc, and aside from its new darker tone and realistic plot, it still felt like a by the book Bond, which isn't a problem: I just didn't think it was all that mind blowing or unique.

This is ultimately because it felt different, unconventional, darker and emotionally relevant than all or most Bond's before it. Skyfall for the win!
